Manufacturing veteran brings hands-on SMT process and Koh Young inspection experience to the regional sales team

Duluth, Georgia – Koh Young America has hired Brent Johnson as Western Regional Sales Manager, adding an experienced SMT manufacturing professional with firsthand knowledge of Koh Young inspection technology to its sales team. Based in Utah, Johnson will lead sales across the western United States and Canada, focusing on expanding Koh Young’s market presence, developing new business opportunities, and bringing a practical production-floor perspective to technical sales conversations.

Johnson brings more than 12 years of hands-on SMT and PCBA manufacturing experience spanning process engineering, equipment implementation, inspection strategy, production optimization, and capital equipment evaluation. He has worked directly with Koh Young solder paste inspection and automated optical inspection systems in demanding production environments, using measurement data to improve printing performance, refine inspection logic, reduce false calls, contain defects, and strengthen process control.

“Brent brings firsthand understanding of how manufacturers evaluate equipment, manage production risk, and use inspection data to improve results,” said Allen Phung, Head of Sales at Koh Young America. “That experience allows him to have credible technical and business conversations with customers. He will be an important part of expanding Koh Young’s presence and developing new opportunities across the Western region.”

Johnson’s background gives him the ability to connect production-floor challenges with the technical, operational, and financial considerations behind capital equipment decisions. His experience working across engineering, quality, operations, suppliers, manufacturers, and leadership teams will bring a practical, consultative approach to his new sales role.

“I’ve spent much of my career solving manufacturing challenges on the production floor, including using Koh Young technology to improve SMT processes,” said Johnson. “What excites me most about this role is the opportunity to take that experience and help manufacturers across the region solve their own challenges, improve their processes, and get more value from their inspection data.”

As Western Regional Sales Manager, Johnson will focus on expanding Koh Young America’s market presence, developing new business opportunities, strengthening relationships with electronics manufacturers, and helping customers identify inspection and Smart AI Solutions aligned with their production goals.
